Looking across Barley Cove on the Mizen Peninsula. The sand dunes here were created from a tidal wave that swept Europe after an earthquake in Lisbon in 1755. Off in the distance on the far side of the cove is Brow Head, which is actually the most southern point of Ireland. Most people (wrongly) believe that Mizen Head is the farthest south. But it's a small difference!
